Fernweh

This is a German word that means, roughly, the longing to be far away. That wandering spirit that the Irish talk about, the tinker love for the road.

I want to GO. I want to see things. I want to just hop on a train and go where the wind takes me. When my kids get a bit older, we're going to tour Europe. See everything, ride the rails to new places. I've already been to every state in the US but Alaska. I want to see that too. I want to see more of Mexico, and South America. I want to go back to Jordan, to Egypt. I hope my boys have the wandering spirit too. They travel well, so maybe they do. We've flown to Utah, and driven across country.
