Steampunk

I've been in love with the steampunk look for a while now but haven't had a chance/excuse to try it out. K has decided as part of her Ridonkulous Birthday Extravaganzahootenanny, we should dress steampunk-y (She calls us the Belly Bobbsey Twins - we often dress alike, even when we didn't plan it ahead. At tonight's class, we both showed up wearing Sharifwear melo knockoffs, long socks, tank tops, and the same crocheted tassel belt. No planning. I did have on arm warmers, though, and she did not.). So I'm going to be making some stuff.... And it looks like very much fun. I bought some fabric, and I've been digging through my patterns to see what can be steamed up, and collecting inspiration-research online. I'm pretty excited. I'll post pictures as I complete the pieces of the costume.

This also gives me an excuse to buy new boots! I need some brown steampunk-y boots.
