Ah, the last-minute redo...

I really don't like the way the mauve corset thingy turned out, even though I painted some kick-ass cogwheels on it. It's too loose, and not long enough. So today I re-drafted the pattern and cut out a new one from a heavy green brocade upholstery-weight piece that I got on the cheap-cheap in the remnant bin. I pulled some fabric out of the shed to line it with, and I'll need to buy some more boning. Friday morning the sale starts... So tomorrow I'll work on the Corset/Bodice verson 2.0, and hopefully it will work out better. I'm going to look for a metal separating zipper this time, otherwise it's getting grommets and laced up. Might buy the smaller size down version of the pattern, too, just in case. I think Buttericks are a dollar this weekend, so no problem.

The top hats are done being covered and ready for trimming. The silk looks really good, I think K will love it. Might look for a small decorative hatbox to put it in.

I have to count up how many buttons I'm going to need for the spats. I forgot buttons entirely when I was looking at supplies. I know I don't have enough of anything in my button tins to do even one spat much less a pair.

I pulled fabric out to line the jacket too, but still need the trim before I can start on it. Will try to get the lining cut out tonight while watching Lost (must fold laundry as well).

So at Joann's on Friday:
  • Trim for hats. Also decorative elements (buttons, bead-y things, etc.)
  • Boning for corseted bodice
  • Buttons for spats
  • Trim for bodice - might buy enough to trim both, and sell mauve one on etsy
  • Hatbox?
  • Patterns: Butterick and Simplicity are on sale, iirc, so need to find the list I'd made or make a new one. Double-check if both Joann and Hancock have the same sale. There was a Vogue I wanted too, need to look again.

Steamy vest back (as you can see, I removed nearly the entire center back panels, and it's still too loose):
