A snake charmah, a belly dansah...

Just for the heck of it... I'm going to post belly dance pics. Why not.

This is me and my dance partner Nadira performing in the gala show for the East Coast Belly Dance Classic earlier this year. This was our serious part haha. Sword is actually easier than it looks, but don't tell anyone. The pants and cholis we're wearing were designed and made by me, and the lightning bolts on our bras were made by my wonderful metal-working husband. He's supposed to make full-cup bra covers for me next. I always have a ton of costuming projects on the back burner. I'm the costume director for our troupe.

This is backstage at Shimmy for a Cause, a benefit show we did down in NC for the American Heart Association. Far left is Zuleika, who sometimes dances with me and Nadira, but did a solo that night, then Nadira, then Kaitlyn, a lovely NC dancer who did a fantastic tribal fusion piece, and then me. I have another SFAC pic that was taken in the car on the way down that I totally love.

This was in the car on the way down to the show. We were a little late, which is not surprising, since all three of us were trying to have our hair and makeup done before we left. We had a blast on the way down and back. Stopped at some restaurant or other, might have been a TGIFriday's, for dinner, and had giant magaritas. Lots of fun.

This was taken in downtown Norfolk, and it was so freakin' cold! It was actually sleeting that day, but we did get some pretty cool pictures. This pic is my favorite of the bunch. I love the framing of it.

And it reminds me that I need to repair a rip I put in that skirt while I was in Florida. Hmm. Must do some costuming upkeep. I need to do some sewing tonight anyway.
